Retail POS Grows Recurring Revenue with Plug-and-Play Analytics

"This partnership saves money and delivers a world class experience for our retail clients, creating new recurring revenue without adding overhead."

Peter De Ranter, Founder & CEO of Tilroy

Tilroy realised a clear need for retail analytics from clients. Instead of building their own, they integrated Zoined with a reasonably small amount of work. Since then, the results have been clear: shorter sales cycles, stronger retention, and growing recurring revenue for everyone involved. Today, the partnership is a success story, with more than two dozen companies using both systems and the numbers still rising.

About Tilroy and the Zoined Partnership

Tilroy is a cloud based omnichannel retail platform based in Belgium. It connects POS, e-commerce and inventory so stock, prices and orders so everytihng stays in sync. The platform acts as the interface between store operations and the backoffice, built on modern cloud and API principles for retailers that want a unified view of their business.

Tilroy mainly serves specialty retail sectors such as fashion, sports, bikes, books and home, where real time stock accuracy and smooth customer journeys matter. Zoined and Tilroy have partnered since 2020 and today serve more than two dozen shared retail customers. Zoined provides the analytics layer on top of Tilroy data, while Tilroy keeps its roadmap focused on core retail operations and omnichannel flows.

Peter De Ranter, Founder & CEO of Tilroy, comments the partnership like this:

"Our retailers were asking for deeper reporting on sales, margin, stock rotation, markdowns, and the impact of campaigns across stores and online. We considered building analytics ourselves, but the cost in time and focus was obvious. The smarter path was to integrate best of breed tools such as Zoined into the Tilroy omnichannel offering, so customers get a seamless experience."

Why Tilroy chose to integrate instead of build

From a product strategy point of view, Tilroy faced the classic build versus integrate question for retail analytics.

Their retailers were asking for serious reporting on sales, margin, stock movement and campaign impact across both stores and e-commerce. At the same time, the Tilroy roadmap was already committed to a lot of other projects. Starting to develop a BI product internally would have meant hiring new skills, new infrastructure and a permanent distraction for core teams.

Instead of splitting focus, Tilroy chose to keep their product team on the core platform and plug in a specialist analytics partner. This gave them a retail ready analytics layer, without taking on the cost and risk of building and maintaining a BI stack of their own.

Peter says

"We considered building analytics ourselves, but the cost in time and focus was obvious. The smarter path was to integrate best of breed tools such as Zoined into the Tilroy omnichannel offering, so customers get a seamless experience."

Integration and rollout story

Technically, Tilroy wanted something predictable and light. The integration had to respect their POS roadmap and avoid long projects for each new retailer.

Tilroy integrated against Zoined's Modern Rest API, which gave them a clear frame for effort and a clean division of responsibility. Their developers could estimate the work, complete it inside the normal POS development cycle and avoid any parallel product track just for analytics. Peter explains

"It was easy to predict the required rather small work amount, and we were able to execute our normal POS development roadmap uninterrupted while providing our customers also a fully working new analytics module."

They started by sending sales data so that store teams received daily clarity on performance. Once that was proven, Tilroy and Zoined extended the same integration to inventory, orders and deliveries. Buyers now work from the same views as store teams, using one source of truth to plan and act across channels. For new customers, this becomes an embedded module in the Tilroy offer, not a separate project.

Commercial impact for Tilroy

On the commercial side, the Zoined partnership changes what Tilroy can offer in the sales process. Instead of answering analytics questions with a roadmap promise or a basic built in report, Tilroy can position a complete retail reporting and analytics module that runs on their own data. This strengthens their pitch against other POS and retail platforms, especially for multi store and omnichannel retailers that expect advanced analytics as standard.

Financially, Tilroy gains recurring revenue from the analytics service without adding headcount or internal complexity. Retention improves because customers use more value in the platform, and the sales message becomes sharper. Prospects see a solution that covers the full retail stack, not just transactions.

Value story for their retailers

For Tilroy retailers, the combined solution is about clarity and speed of decision making. Peter comments on the integration:

"The result is one language for the business. Store managers, buyers and the board sees the same data and reach decisions faster with fewer surprises. It is clear, fast to use, and usually part of their daily routine"

Store staff can see what is selling by the hour. Retail managers see sales, margin, stock rotation and promotions in one place. Buyers plan purchasing, manage markdowns and align with store teams. The board sees overall performance and can easily drill-down into the details.

A direct message to other POS providers

"Combine best of practice tools and let customers experience one integrated solution. Keep your team focused on building the POS while Zoined delivers retail reporting and analytics, onboarding, and support. Expect a clean integration and retailers are live with best practice reporting in about a day. You gain a chance to offer a value-adding product module and a revenue model without building analytics, shorten sales cycles, and save internal resources while giving clients a world class experience."
