What is Zoined?
Zoined is plug-and-play analytics software for retailers and restaurants, founded in Finland in 2011. It also runs theme parks, e-commerce and wholesale businesses, but retail and restaurant are where most of our customers are. It connects to your POS, workforce, footfall and e-commerce systems and turns that data into ready-made dashboards and reports, so nobody is building them by hand or exporting to Excel every week. What does a Zoined subscription include?
Access to the Zoined web portal for everyone in your organisation, with no per-user limit, plus scheduled email reports, all the ready-made dashboards and metrics, and the tools to build your own. Maintenance, technical support and every new feature release are included. Billed monthly or yearly, per site. ZED, AI forecasting and the other Pro features are naturally on the Pro tier.
What does Zoined actually cost, all in?
Two things: a one-time setup fee and a monthly subscription.
The setup fee is between €200 and €900 depending on how many sites you have, and it covers connecting your POS and the onboarding sessions where we build your first reports & dashboards together with you. There’s no setup fee for the free trial; it’s only due once you decide to commit.
The subscription is per site per month and comes down as you add sites, so a ten-store chain pays around €61 a site and a 32-store chain around €48.50. Each additional data source beyond your POS, like workforce management or footfall counters, adds 25% to the per-site price, and the calculator works that out as you tick them. You get 10% off if you pay yearly. SSO is a negotiated add-on for PRO users.
Why does Zoined charge per site instead of per user?
Because the numbers are only useful if the people running the sites can see them. Most BI tools, Power BI, Tableau, Qlik and Looker among them, charge per seat, which means every store manager you want to give access to costs more, and sooner or later someone decides a few of them don’t really need it. We charge per site, so you can add your regional managers, store managers, buyers and whoever covers the weekend, and the price stays the same. Most of our customers run it through their whole organisation, as seen in theCMB Restaurants casewhere every manager is eagerly waiting for the weekly reports.
Is my POS supported, and what if it isn’t?
We have certified integrations with 38 POS and ERP systems, plus many e-commerce, workforce management and footfall systems, and you can see thefull list here. If yours is on it, you’re typically live within 24 hours. If it isn’t, it’s still worthgetting in touch. We can’t promise to build every integration, but tell us which system you’re on and we’ll look at whether there’s a way to work together, and if there is, we’ll quote it before you commit.
What does “up and running in 24 hours” actually mean?
It means that on acertified integration, we connect to your POS and you’re looking at your own real numbers within a day, with no development work and no IT project. One person on your side, usually someone in IT or operations, is enough to handle the setup with us. The one thing that can slow it down is messy source data, for example inconsistent product categories or the same store named three different ways in different systems. If that’s the case we’ll spot it in the first meeting and tell you what it means for the timeline.
What’s included in the free trial?
30 days on your own real data, no card and no setup fee, and you can stop whenever you want. You get unlimited users during the trial, same as afterwards, so everyone who’d actually use it can try it. We’ll do a setup session with you first to work out what you need to see and who needs to see it. How much history you’ll have depends on your POS and how far back it keeps data; some systems hand over years, some only months. Why not just use our POS’s built-in reporting?
It depends on what you’re trying to see. If you have one POS, one type of site and you’re not planning to add anything else, your built-in reporting probably covers you, and it’s included in what you already pay.
Where things get tough and manual is when there’s more than one system involved, say a different POS in the restaurant, a workforce management software or an e-commerce platform on the side, and you want to see what’s really happening across all locations without piecing it together by hand. Christian Hallemyr atSodexo Norwayput it well: “Before, we had five or six different systems. The data quality we collected was really hard to get hold of. In the end, you maybe didn’t know if you could trust it.”
That’s the gap Zoined is built for: centralising the data so you can view the whole chain and dig into the details when you need to.
We already have Power BI. Why would we need Zoined?
Then you already know Power BI can do most of, if not more than Zoined can. It connects to almost everything and you can customise it endlessly. The two things worth weighing are cost and time. It charges per seat, so every store manager you want to inform adds to the bill, and it doesn’t do anything useful until someone has built the retail model on top of it, which usually takes a few months of someone’s time (and a lot of money). Jachym Stevens atLab9ran Power BI before moving to Zoined, and his view is worth more than ours: “Everything I can do with Power BI, I can also do with Zoined. If you have like 30 stores, you don’t even need Power BI to measure everything.”
Is Zoined the right size for my company?
It’s built for chains, so the sweet spot is anywhere from a handful of sites up to around a hundred, where per-site pricing makes sense and there’s enough going on to be worth tracking. If you’re a single site with one POS, it can still be worth it if you’re the kind of owner who wants to understand what’s really happening in your business, but your built-in reporting might do for now, and we’d say so. When can we get Pro and ZED?
